What is Fair Trade?

  • It is a better way to gain market access for Third World producers.
  • It promotes trading relationships based on respect, empowerment, and fairness.

Why buy Fair Trade?

  • Conventional or ‘free’ trade has been, by practice, brutally unfair to Third World producers as emphasis is placed on minimizing costs and maximizing profits. There is an urgent need to ‘make trade fair’, not just for the well being of producers, but for the well being of us all. Fair Trade is not a small scale version of conventional trade it is a fully developed, clearly articulated, economically viable alternative to conventional (exploitive) trade.

  • Through your consumer decisions you are changing the next generation of people who are working under Fair Trade practices.
  • Fair Trade provides farmers and their families with food, clean water, education, health care, education, and a better future.
